Donor engagement with the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS II)

This webpage provides visual and tabular information about which donors are engaging with what aspects of Ghana's Growth Poverty Reduction Strategy II (2006-2009). It is based on an analysis of data collected from donors by the World Bank (Ghana) in late 2005.

Please note that the contents of this page have not been approved by the World Bank, and any errors in the analysis are those of the author of this page. Corrections will be made willingly if any of the donors represented on this page can identify where they are needed. To do so please contact  Rick Davies

See also another 2005 data set, showing details of 12 donors's support to 8 sectors, (that have some relationship to the GPRS II themes) and to Multi-Donor Budget Support  (MDBS) to the GPRS II

See also the related page on Ghanaian NGO engagement with the GPRS II The categorisation of the issues in each GPRS theme on each webpage are different because the NGO survey was carried out before the donor survey results were available, and because the structure of the GPRS II was not straightforward. Some interpretation was required.

Diagram 1: Which donors are funding activities in which of the three GPRS II theme

Lines = funding support. But scale and duration not known
Red nodes = donors. Blue nodes = GPRS II themes
Length of line is not significant
Similarity of position of 2 or more nodes usually means similarity of relationships to GPRS II themes

Please note that the position of the nodes in this and all the other diagrams below was decided by a computer algorithm, designed to minimise overlaps in lines and to co-locate nodes with similar linkages to others. Human intervention was limited to making sure that all node labels are visible.

Numbers = number of components within the theme that are being funded.
