"This advocacy toolkit was developed to assist Save the Children staff
at head office, regional and national level to plan, implement, monitor
and evaluate advocacy initiatives. Advocacy initiatives aim to provide
a coherent structure, nested within the working groups framework, for
streamlining advocacy from the national level through to the
international level fostering greater synergy between head office and
programmes. The toolkit is freely available in hard copy and on CD-Rom
to all those involved in implementing advocacy initiatives in basic
services. The toolkit offers a common framework by providing a
collection of straightforward tools, exercises and handouts to guide
you through your advocacy work. This is by no means definitive. The
toolkit was conceived as a ‘living document’. The
aim is to pilot it through the planning and implementation of advocacy
initiatives in basic services over 2005/2006. Your feedback on the
usefulness of this toolkit will be sought in order to continuously
improve on it. We would also welcome any suggestions of additional
tools that you have found useful in your advocacy work, or tools that
you have developed in the course of your work. The application of the
toolkit is not limited to advocacy in basic services. It is hoped that
over the next year, as the framework is piloted, it will be used to
assist staff in other areas of advocacy in Save the Children." (Posted
