"The Social Life of Information" by John Seely Brown and Paul Duguid. Harvard Business School Press. 2000 The authors analyse "how how information is embedded in social relationships and institutions, and how knowledge management must therefore focus on the social dimension every bit as much as on technology" Editor: This is an excellent book by people with very good credentials. Not just a one-idea book by a consultant flogging his/her wares. Although the book is focused on the use and misuse of information technology the broader focus is on the social factors affecting the flow and use of information within and between organisations. Very relevant to development workers concerned with developing formal monitoring and evaluation capacity, as well as more generic organisational learning capacity.Order through Amazon.co.uk .
