WHY: For nine years MandE NEWS has been generously supported by a group of founding donors in the UK plus IDRC in Canada. From January 2006 the core costs of running the website will be born by myself, the Editor, from my own resources. However, I will also be seeking support from the users of the MandE NEWS through an Online Donation facility, that you have now accessed via the MandE NEWS homepage.
HOW: I am using the services of PayPal, an internationallly recognised and trusted means of making safe and secure payments over the internet. Visitor to the website can click on the "Make a Donation" button below, and make a secure online payment, either using their credit card, or via a new or existing PayPal account (which can be used for many other purchases on the internet).
After you have entered a donation amount, click on "click here" if you do not have a PayPal account and want to pay by credit card. The next page will then appear, allowing you to enter your credit card details.|

AND THEN?: Email receipts will automatically be sent to all online donors, and a record will be kept of all donations received. All online donors will be listed on this page (but not the amounts given), unless they indicate that they do not want to be listed
The income that is generated will be used to cover the running costs of the website, and partly cover the costs of my time, as the website manager, that is being invested in the website. Because this website does not have "charity" status all donations will be received in the account of the website manager (myself, Rick Davies) and will subsequently be declared as taxable income.The PayPal option designated as "donation" was chosen to allow users of the MandE NEWS website to give as much, or little, as they wanted to.
